Why We Still Miss the Mark with Digital Fundraising: A Conversation with Jen Newmeyer

Digital fundraising has been a development strategy for decades, but many organizations still struggle with implementing a successful strategy. In this episode, Jen Newmeyer, Digital Fundraising Strategist at CharityJen and Director at PBS, reveals what contributes to failure, how to overcome these barriers, and the steps needed to thrive. Three areas we’ll discuss: Understanding the role of digital fundraising in the giving pyramid – Digital tools used to support all aspects of fundraising as well as the intentional online engagement campaigns that align with the growth funnel; Why collaboration is critical – Digital fundraising requires the combined efforts of marketing, social media, digital technology, production, development, volunteers, corporate and even finance; The need for strong leadership and resource investment – Without supportive technology and strong leadership, digital fundraising is doomed. Must have investment in platforms, resources for ads and marketing, and the experimental mindset.
